Director of Clinical Research

This individual will be a key clinical research leader at the InMotion Musculoskeletal Institute.

The Director of Clinical Research at InMotion heads an experienced group of clinical researchers in industry clinical trials and outcomes studies. The Director will work with orthopaedic surgeons, hospital staff, and industry partners to solicit, manage, and successfully complete clinical trials and outcome studies through all stages.

The successful candidate must have obtained a BSN degree and RN certification. An MSN degree and CCRC designation is preferred.

Duties include training and management of Clinical Research Coordinators, developing IRB, IACUC, and grant proposal submissions with a variety of clinical research partners, soliciting and negotiating contracts with industry partners, and guaranteeing protocol compliance through Quality Assurance reviews.

The Director must have extensive experience with management processes involved in clinical research, including protocols, regulations, and compliance issues. Working knowledge/experience of Memphis hospital/university system is highly desired.

Understanding of orthopaedic clinical research is desired though not required. Experience in study center research is desired, including NIH and other government agency study center experience.

  • Clinical research design
  • The ability to operate independently and collaboratively as part of a team as well as take direction from principal investigators for the clinical research performed at InMotion
  • Skills and ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of constituencies
  • The ability to solve problems and make decisions in a timely fashion
  • The skills and ability to anticipate, manage and adapt to change
  • The knowledge and skill with word processing, spreadsheet, email, data base and presentation computer software applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)

The Director will play a key role at the institute and must therefore must have impeccable character and integrity, be able to provide leadership, maintain effective working relationships among the various departments, programs, and administrative units with our research partners, actively seek protection of intellectual property and manage all research programs with fiscal prudence and careful attention to the responsible stewardship of its resources.

A record of thoughtful and wise decision-making, creativity, innovation, vision, and imagination in previous and current positions is desirable.
