First Annual Meeting Brings Scientific Luminaries to Memphis
Memphis, Tenn – October 23, 2006 – The InMotion Musculoskeletal Institute announces its first annual Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting to be held in Memphis, Tennessee, on Tuesday, November 28, 2006. InMotion created this committee to advise the Institute on its scientific direction, research focus, and development opportunities.
“One of the reasons that InMotion exists is to bring to one place the best talent in the fields of musculoskeletal research and surgery,” says Executive Director & President Richard Tarr. “The people on this list are conducting some of the most exciting musculoskeletal research in the world. We are bringing them to Memphis to talk about InMotion and to showcase this city as an obvious center for musculoskeletal research, treatment, and entrepreneurship.”
The committee meeting is going to be held the day after InMotion’s fifth quarterly musculoskeletal lecture at the University of Memphis’ FedEx Institute of Technology. The speaker is Scientific Advisory Committee member, Joshua J. Jacobs, MD, who is President of the Orthopaedic Research Society. Dr. Jacobs is also the Crown Family Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois.

InMotion is an independent not-for-profit laboratory that reduces disability and improves mobility for the musculoskeletal patient through translational research.
InMotion will move into its first laboratory space in January 2007 and is currently recruiting clinician scientists through a joint appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center – Campbell Clinic and the University of Memphis Department of Biomedical Engineering.
InMotion has received funding from the Hyde Family Foundations and Campbell Foundation. In addition, InMotion has received laboratory and research support from the Assisi Foundation of Memphis, Inc. and the Plough Foundation, as well as support for its education series from Medtronic. InMotion has signed multiple contract agreements to perform pre-clinical and clinical research for local and national orthopaedic implant and pharmaceutical companies.
